Reah Marie Ballard Brody

Reah Marie Ballard Brody, age 82, passed away November 6, 2012, in St. George, Utah. She was born April 14, 1930, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to David James and Thelma Williams Lamoreaux.

Marie was born and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. Shortly after graduating from Spanish Fork High School she moved to Cedar City, Utah to work as a waitress. Marie met and married James Allen Ballard and they began their life together in Kennelworth, Utah. Jim worked as a high school teacher in Huntington, Utah. They moved their family to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Jim became a building contractor. They raised their family in Las Vegas. Jim and Marie divorced in 1975. Marie remarried in 1985, to Herb Brody. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Marie was a wonderful mother and homemaker who everyone loved. She was very entertaining and a gracious hostess. Marie loved roses and traveling. While living in Las Vegas she was very active in the Desert Home Makers Club. She was patient and generous and a favorite aunt to all the family.

Following Herb's death, Marie moved to Cedar City, and was currently residing with her son, Gary, in Hurricane.

Marie was a very loving mother and will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Roy of Hurricane, UT, Laurie (Jeff) Knowles of Parowan, UT, and Gary N. (Michele) Ballard of Hurricane, UT. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Allen Ballard and Herb Brody; and son, David A. Ballard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 2:00 pm in the Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 25 N. 2000 W., Hurricane, UT. There will be a viewing Saturday, from 12:30-1:30 pm prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will take place in the Hurricane City Cemetery.
