Beulah Isom Obituary
Beulah Barber Isom

Cedar City

Beulah Barber Isom, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on November 28, 2013 at her son's home in Cedar City, Utah. She was born to Frank and Sarah Webb Barber on March 8, 1923 in Hurricane, Utah.

Beulah grew up in a loving home in Hurricane, Utah. She was the seventh of eight children born to Frank Barber. Beulah's mother passed away suddenly when Beulah was only 6 years old. Her father became both mother and father to the children still living at home. She often recalled what a kind, loving, caring parent he was to her and her siblings; always putting their needs before his own. Beulah and Herbert Emeron Isom knew each other all of their lives in the little town of Hurricane. Emeron's sister, "Willie" (Wilma), was one of her best friends. She graduated from Hurricane High School. After high school, Emeron joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. Willie convinced Beulah to move to Los Angeles to become a long distance telephone operator. Whenever Emeron got a weekend off, he would go to Los Angeles to take Beulah dancing or to a movie. They were married in Los Angeles on January 8, 1943. Two months later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple on March 9, 1943. They raised their four children in California.

In 1970, after spending more than 30 years in the L.A. area, Beulah, Emeron and their family moved to Logan after purchasing the Parker Awning business that was located on South Main. They loved their life in Logan; their business, church, work and friends, for many, many years.

Beulah lived a life of service - providing leadership to the Relief Society, playing the piano for the Primary children, or lovingly shepherding her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a doer - very much self-reliant and strong the many years she labored as a widow. Her home was always warm and inviting to all who enjoyed and sought her company.

Beulah is survived by her four children: ReKay (Dwight) Rutherford of Roseville, CA, Craig (Sylvia) Isom of Cedar City, UT, Diane (Kim) McKinnon of Riverton, WY and Ronald (Rae) Isom of Farmington, UT, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one sister, Liela Barber Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Emeron Isom, her brothers Frank Webb, Ralston, Leslie Garth, and David Keith; and her sisters, LaRue and Ruth.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at LDS Church 274 South 100 West, Hurricane, Utah. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am at the same location. Interment will be at the Hurricane City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to www.sumortuary.com.
