Bruce Hill Obituary

Our beloved husband, dad and grandfather, Bruce A. Hill, 76, passed away September 8, 2015 in St. George. He was born May 30, 1939 in Fayette, Utah to Wendell Bown and Lola May Olsen Hill. He married Deanne Christenson in Gunnison on February 21, 1956 and solemnized in the Manti Temple on December 1, 1962.

Dad loved the great outdoors. He was an avid sportsman. His favorite time of year was the beautiful fall. He loved the changing of the leaves and the bite of cool weather. As a boy, he loved the promise of harvesting a deer, elk, pheasants, and geese to take home for his mother or grandmother to prepare. Throughout his life, he loved camping and hunting with his loved ones. He often reflected on the days spent in 12-Mile Canyon, where he would park his trailer during the summer and into late fall. His fondest memories include the stillness of starlit nights around the campfire and falling asleep to the soothing sounds of a brook nearby.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of working hard and working often. He loved to work and could be depended on to quietly show up and "be" what was needed. He could always be found working side by side with his family and friends, whether in an LDS bishopric or at the church or family farm.

When his daughter and sons competed at many levels in athletics, Dad could always be counted on to give encouragement before quietly fading into the crowd to cheer them on. He was compassionate and non-judgmental with a kind word or deed for anyone in need.

Dad was a natural home teacher. Whether it was a neighbor or ward member, he was always there to provide words of encouragement or to lend a helping hand. Always thinking of others in his final few days, he expressed a great desire for a message to be shared with his children and grandchildren: "Please tell them that I love them."

He is survived by his wife, Deanne; children: Jeff (Shawn) Hill, Atlanta, GA; Greg (Jolie) Hill, Saratoga Springs; Mechelle Hill, St. George; Ronnie (Tiffany) Hill, Logan; Richard W. Hill, San Francisco, CA; Bryant Kendall Hill, San Diego, CA; 19 grandchildren and

2 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Wendell Hill, Seattle; WA; sister-in-law, Cinda Hill, Pleasant Grove.

Preceded in death by parents; brother, Gary Ray Hill.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Mercado and the IHC staff.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 12 Noon in the Southgate LDS Chapel, 1068 W Chandler Drive, St. George, where friends may call Saturday from 10:00-11:30 am.
