Dorian Lou Graff Obituary
Dorian "Lou" Graff

St. George

Lou passed away on March 4, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on March 10, 1941 to Glen and Wanda Russell Graff, in St. George. He received his early Education in St. George. He was married to Barbara Ashurst and they were later divorced.

Lou received an Education degree and teaching certificate from Utah State University, and taught Elementary School until retirement from the Nevada school system. He was a gifted and beloved teacher and his students brought great joy to his life.

Lou had many friends and enjoyed country western music, line dancing (teaching classes to the Vegas Area Singles), sports of all kinds, playing cards and traveling. Lou was exact in remembering the birthdays of friends and family, and he always knew when someone needed a friendly call. He was an aviation enthusiast, and enjoyed a single engine aircraft pilot license for a time. He was a world traveler from Russia to New Zealand, and was delighted to cruise around, ordering up three entrees and desserts, every night. He was a truck and bus driver, traveling from coast to coast, and he loved old cars. Lou played the banjo in the family band, and served as M.C. for 47 years at the annual Grafton reunions, which honor the pioneers and their music. His humor and talent will be greatly missed. He was a generous contributor to the Grafton Heritage Partnership, which is active today. Most of all Lou was a proud Dad that delighted in spending all the time he could with his daughter, Kortnee.

Lou has been a Bishop in the LDS Church and was an active member until his death.

Lou was preceded in death by his Mother, Father and Step-Father, Jake Truman; also by his brothers Russell (Anna- living) Graff; and Stan (Betty- living) Graff. He is survived by his daughter Kortnee Graff (Anthony Greenwood), Salt Lake City; sister, Glenna (Dale- deceased) Frehner, Boise; brothers, Darrell (Joyce) Graff, Ogden, and Ken Graff, St. George; also many nieces and nephews who thought of him as their favorite uncle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George. There will be a visitation on Saturday from Noon until time of service. Interment will take place in the St. George City Cemetery.
