Edson Renato Martinez, 19, of St. George, Utah returned to his Heavenly Father on March 19, 2014. Edson Martinez passed away as a warrior battling for his life at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Edson had been fighting sickness with TTP for a while on and off most of his life. He lost his battle with TTP due to heart and lung complications on March 19.
Edson was the first and oldest son to Cesar Renato and Claudia Martinez. Edson was born on August 19, 1994 in El Salvador, Central America. His family moved to St George, Utah when he was 4 years old. Edson attended Sunset Elementary and then graduated from Snow Canyon High school in 2012. During his time at Snow Canyon High School, he was involved in many school activities and loved spending as much time as he could with his friends. Edson had a passion for anything to do with sports. From his early years on he was always involved in sports. He especially loved to play baseball, football, wrestling, tennis, golf, and basketball.
After graduating high school, Edson was excited to start college and moved to Provo, Utah where he attended Utah Valley University for almost 2 years. While living in Provo, he worked on his passion for technology. He loved anything electronic: computers, cell phones, and he was especially talented at fixing them or customizing them beyond what most people knew how to do. He gave his whole heart and soul into his job at Bad Apple where he helped the company grow from a few employees into three very successful stores. He would not let a day pass without worrying or taking care of the customers and employees at Bad Apple.
Edson grew up a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from seminary. He really appreciated all the extra time his teachers and leaders spent with him, and the great influence they were on his life.
Edson was an exceptional young man with a very high outlook on life. He was very kind, happy, positive, and was always willing to serve anyone. Edson had a special talent of being friends with everyone. He always made sure you were happy and smiling when he was around because that's what he was doing. Edson left his mark on anyone he spent time with, he would fill them with happiness and good memories forever. Edson always had a lot of friends. He was always giving advice to other young men to choose good friends because that's what he was. Everyone loved to be around Edson and he always had a lot of friends with him.
Edson is survived by his Parents Cesar Renato and Claudia Martinez, brother Oliver 15, brother Jared 14, sister Rachel 3, both sides of grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday March 29, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (82 North Dixie Drive St. George, UT 84770) at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 and before the funeral from 9:30-10:30 both at the church. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, UT.
