John Clare Paxman

John Clare Paxman, age 60, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in St. George, Utah. He was born March 4, 1953, in St. George, Utah, to Clare Nichols and Gelane Stock Paxman.

He graduated from Dixie High School class of 1971. While still in High school, at the age of 17, John joined the Utah National Guard. Shortly after High School graduation he married Kim Miller in 1972, they later divorced. Together they had one child, Dustin John.

John worked with his father, Clare, in his house painting business until his father's death. John then went to work for Watts Painting. In 1984, he went to work for his brother, Kelly, at Paxman Heating and Cooling where he continued working up to the present. John was a valued part of the company's success.

John married Tammy Gale Yoder in 1986. They had two children Shayla and Kaleb and he also inherited Levi and Destiny. They later divorced.

In 1979 John enlisted in the US Air Force and served at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1981. He continued serving his country as a member of the Patriot Guard.

In January 2005, John married his eternal angel, Lynda Jean Davis. With true love, John's life took on a new dimension. Their marriage was solemnized November, 14, 2006 in the St. George LDS Temple. Through this marriage, John also inherited Jeri Lynn and Miranda. John's family was now complete.

John was a talented artist, which was a family gift. He had many talents and was a master craftsman in woodworking and made many beautiful picture frames and furniture. He especially loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and collecting arrowheads.

John had many, many friends, all considered as family. John was always on the phone checking on family and friends, pacing all the while. He was always cheerful, witty, high spirited and had a great sense of humor. He was very gentle, generous and tolerant.

John was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a very strong belief in God and a profound testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He had many Church callings. One of his favorites was working with the Boy Scouts. John was currently serving as Ward Clerk in the Washington 11th Ward.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda Jean Paxman, Washington; children, Dustin John Paxman, Portland, OR, Shayla Paxman Caruso, Washington, UT, Kaleb Maclain Paxman, Salina, UT, Jeri Lynn Christian, Washington, UT, Miranda Paxman (Trever) Checketts, St. George, UT; Levi Yoder, Brookside, UT, Destiny Nelson, Ogden, UT, Patrick Wilson, LaVerkin, UT, and Garrett Wilson, LaVerkin, UT; sister, Laura Kay Paxman Cooper, St. George; brother, Arthur Kelly (Shana) Paxman, Washington, UT; Mikey; and special friend, his dog "Jack".

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clare and Gelane "Jane" Paxman; sister, Vickie Ann Hatch; and son, Jonathan Edward Nickols.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington 11th Ward Chapel, 600 East Telegraph, Washington, UT. Visitations will be Sunday, April 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT and Monday, April 8 from 9:30 to 10:30, prior to services. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery.
