Karleta Riggs

Hatch, Utah

Karleta Lowder Riggs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all, went home to her Father in Heaven on July 23, 2013, due to an accidental fall at her home in Hatch, Utah. She was born November 2, 1949 in Panguitch, Utah, the third child of Karl and Reva Lowder. She graduated from Panguitch High School in 1967, and attended LDS Business College and Dixie State College. She married Ronald K. Riggs on July 12, 1969 for time and all eternity in the St. George LDS Temple. They resided for the first few years in Cedar City, later moving to Panguitch where they raised their 3 children, Becky, Angie and Willie. She and Ron moved to her hometown of Hatch in 2007 where they were warmly welcomed into the loving Hatch Town Family.

Karleta was an active member of the LDS Church, particularly enjoying working in Primary. She had a firm, unshakable testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel, exemplifying her great faith in her Heavenly Father and His Son by the way she lived and treated others. She was an accomplished seamstress and "crocheted faster than the speed of light". She was well known for her homemade dinner rolls and delicious cinnamon rolls. She worked in the school lunch program as a cook/manager for over 20 years where her amazing "made from scratch" lunches were enjoyed by all. She truly loved this job but had to retire early due to health problems. She was a breast cancer survivor and had conquered cardiac issues. She was loved by all who knew her for her generosity, compassion and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years Ron; children Rebecca Huntington, Angela (Dave) Stone and William (Alicia) Riggs; grandchildren Troy and Brandon Huntington, and Alyssa, Nathan, Aidan, Jenna and Quincy Stone; and siblings Velta (Les) Scott, Jess (Ronda) Lowder, Mary Beth (Wally) Veater and Laretta (Philip) Crofts. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Hatch Utah LDS Church. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Hatch Church and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 AM at the Church. Burial will be in the Hatch Cemetery. Services were arranged with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.
