Richard Arthur Cain Jr.

St. George

St. George, Utah - Richard Arthur Cain, 81, passed away peacefully, at home, Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Dad was born on November 7, 1931 in Lima, Ohio to Richard and Mabel Jordan Cain.

Dad graduated from Elida High School in Elida, Ohio. After high school he joined the United States Air Force, where he met the love of his life Claudette Kay Valentine. They were married on June 30, 1956 and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple. Dad was retired from both the Air Force and the United States Postal Service. He was also a faithful member of the Church of Latter Day Saints and held many callings over the years including Secretary in the bishopric. Dad enjoyed the outdoors, canoeing, fishing, camping, shooting and most recently boating and jet skiing (there's pictures to prove it!), and was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association and a passionate defender of our country's constitution.

He is survived by his children: Kathy Cain of Midvale, Utah, Jeanette (Larry) Sickles of Riverdale, Utah, Richelle (Zane) Ratliff of St. George and Larry (Misti) Cain of St. George. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven & 1/2 great-grandchildren and beloved pets Ginger, Penny, Stormy & Bobette. He was preceded in death by his parents, his eternal wife Claudette Kay Cain and one great-grandchild, Izzak Trysten Sutton.

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to his grand-daughters, Jasmine Wharton and Cassandra Sutton for their unfaltering love and devotion to Dads care for the last 9 months. We would also like to thank the staff at Alliance Hospice, particularly Tanya, Marci & Garry for their commitment to making Dad's passing as comfortable for him as possible.
