Robert "Bob" Humphreys passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, following a sudden illness. He was born on October 23, 1933 in New Providence, Iowa to Wayne Humphreys and Altarena Hyde. He married Betty Lou Ann Humphreys on March 27, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bob was raised in New Providence, Iowa and attended college and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served 4 years for our country visiting a lot of different places including Greece, Tripoli, the Middle East, and North Africa during the Korean War. Bob, along with a childhood friend, packed their bags and moved to California in 1956 where he met his lovely wife, Betty. In 1973, Bob's love of birds prompted his purchase of a pheasant farm in Veyo, Utah, and he drug his young family from southern California out to the sticks. He raised ornamental Ring-neck pheasants and chukars for hunting clubs and invented and manufactured incubators, which he sold and shipped all over the world. Bob enjoyed many occupations through the years, such as glass glazer, truck driver, diesel mechanic and finally retired from St. George Steel as the Maintenance supervisor. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, flint knapping and trapping, but was more of a "professional putterer." He could fix anything, and loved restoring antique tractors. Bob had a love of "strange" animals and raised llamas, chinchillas, mink, otters, arctic foxes, and the occasional owl or hummingbird that got caught in the bird pens or feeders. He also raised "normal" animals including rabbits, Pekingese and Pomeranian dogs, and in the last few years of his life he renewed his love of raising ornamental pheasants and quail. He loved nothing more than to hear the quail calling in the mornings.

Bob became ill after caretaking for his sick wife, Betty, who is suffering from advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease, and now resides in an assisted living center in St. George. Bob loved his family and tried to protect his daughters from knowing the extent of Betty's illness, suffering in silence, wearing down his own precious health.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty Humphreys, St. George, Utah; daughter, Pam Humphreys, LaVerkin, Utah; daughter, Becky Workman (Leonard), St. George, Utah; son, Kurt A Wright, Virgin, Utah; grandchildren CeAnn and Robert (Bobby) Workman, St. George, Utah. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Doris Roberts, Marian Jones, Marge Knavel, and Don Humphreys.
