Steven Gower Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our husband, dad, grandpa (Papa), brother and friend, Steven Orton Gower. Steven passed away in Cedar City on September 27, 2013 at home at the age of 65 surrounded by his wife and children.

Steven was born July 1, 1948 the oldest of 5 children to Reid and Lewen Orton Gower. He grew up in Cedar City as part of the '8th West gang'. He had many fond memories of escapades that were carried out in that neighborhood. He graduated from Cedar High in 1967. He went one semester at CSU (now SUU) and then left school to work with his dad in the construction industry.

On August 8, 1969 he married the love of his life Lorna Gordon. They became the parents of 4 children. Travis (Rachel), Kyle, Emily (Tom) Crites and Kevin. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, Kaden, Brennen, Cody, Haven, Janzen, Madison, Hunter and Morgan who was born on his birthday.

Family meant everything to Steven. His favorite times were spent on the mountain with his family as self-appointed 'Camp Director', and with his friends. Whether Dutch ovening, 'fishing' for and feeding ground squirrels, hunting deer or just sitting around a campfire in the evening. He loved fast cars, NHRA drag racing, gardening and bottling (especially his dilly beans) and boating on Lake Powell.

He was a contractor and home inspector by trade. He could build almost anything he set his mind to. His proudest accomplishments were the house that he and Lorna built together and where he left this life, the original Shakespearean stage and the Randall L. Jones Theater on the SUU campus. Steven was 30+ year member of the Cedar City Elks Lodge serving as a Trustee for many Years.

In his younger days he was a pillar. In his later years he became a softy. He would cry watching a military homecoming on T.V.

He is survived by his brothers; Stewart (Becky), Connel (Bernice) and Mark (Traci) and too many friends to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his sister Cindy and his beloved Aunt Hodean. We are positive there is a wonderful reunion in heaven for him.

We have a huge hole in our hearts and lives but we are all assured that this will heal as our lives go on.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at the LDS Church located at 500 West 400 North in Cedar City. There will be a visitation at the same church on Friday evening October 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Steven's wish was to be cremated and his remains will be buried at the Cedar City Cemetery at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Newman, Intermountain Homecare, especially Bonnie, and the staff at the Kolob Care and Rehab.

Arrangements entrusted to the SWINDLEHURST FUNERAL HOME. On line condolences may be sent to
