Enterprise, Utah - Our dear mother and grandmother, Ida Merle Mitchell Frandsen Staheli, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 31, 2014 at the home of her daughter, RoLana Marshall, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was born to Marvin Young Mitchell and Valda Maria Radmall on May 11, 1927 in Roosevelt, Utah. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945. She married Clark Vernal Frandsen on August 15, 1946. They raised their six children in West Jordan, Utah. They later divorced. Ida moved to Washington, Utah and worked at Dixie State Bank. She met and married Heber Reed Staheli on December 9, 1972. She moved to Enterprise, Utah and there they finished raising their combined children. They had been married 38 years at the time of Heber's passing.
Ida was a devoted wife and mother and loved to cook for Heber. She loved to go to Ox Valley and see the deer, she could usually spot them first. She loved to count them. They loved to travel, but not by plane.
Ida was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings and loved each one. She was a member of the DUP and served in many position including Captain. She was known for her lovely yard, she loved flowers and hummingbirds. She loved to dance! Ida enjoyed crocheting, quilting, coin collecting and family history and genealogy. Her favorite pastime was to visit and love those around her. If you knew her, she was your friend. She always had a hug for everyone she knew and everyone she didn't. She was the best grandma in the world and each grandchild knew they were her favorite.
At the time of her passing, Ida had 47 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a brother, Sheldon Mitchell of St. George; her children: Cleon (Mary) Frandsen of Florida, RoLana (Dan) Marshall of Spanish Fork, Marvin Frandsen of Idaho, VaNae (David) Barlow of Enterprise, Shaun (Nadine) Frandsen of Salt Lake City and Troy (Jennifer) Frandsen of Texas; her children of Heber's: Sherri (Marlo) Reber of Enterprise, Larry (Sandy) Staheli of Veyo, Darla (Sheldon) Mitchell of St. George, Delanie (Jim) Cole of Nevada and Valerie (Dale) Perkins of Enterprise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heber; her parents and a brother, Everett Dee Mitchell.
We would like to extend our love and gratitude to Carma Karsten and her staff at Maple Creek Home Health and Hospice of Spanish Fork, Utah. Our on going thanks to Spencer Cooper for all his words of comfort. Carma is a wonderful person.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise LDS Stake Center, 80 South Center Street, Enterprise, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, prior to services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., both at the Stake Center. Interment will follow services, at the Enterprise City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
