Kenneth Charles Lucas, of St. George, passed away quietly in his home, March 1, 2014 at the age of 90. Born January 2, 1924, Ken spent his youth in Los Angeles and then graduated from South High School and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
1943-1945 found Ken in the jungles of the Pacific Theater with the US Army. Returning home, Ken served an LDS mission in Norway. He married Rebecca Gibson in the Salt Lake Temple in 1950. While he loved hiking, canoeing and gardening, genealogy was his life-long passion. Ken was a teacher by profession. After retiring in California, he and Rebecca built their dream home in St. George. An avid scouter, Ken received the Silver Beaver Award in 1993. Rebecca passed away in January 1997. He married Lois Nicholl and she passed away in August 2000. He married Ramona Brubaker in March 2002. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; son: Blair (Dena)Lucas, Trabuco Canyon, CA, and daughters: Gail (Nyman) Winn, West Haven, UT, Wendy (Keith) Anderson, Las Vegas, NV, Leslie West (Enrique Rodriguez) Garden Grove, CA, Caroline (Jim) Walters, Happy Valley, OR, Heather (Russell) Giles, Camarillo, CA; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Friday, March 7, 6-8 p.m. at the Heideman Hughes Mortuary located at 1037 E. 700 South. A viewing will also be held, 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, Saturday March 8, at the LDS Chapel on 1095 St. James Lane. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
