Kenneth LaVere Hamilton

LaVerkin, UT

Kenneth LaVere Hamilton, 91, passed away March 13, 2014 in Dixie Regional Medical Center. He was born March 4, 1923 in Davis City, Iowa the son of Ernest and Sadie Henderson Hamilton. He left Iowa with his parents when he was five years old to live in Greybull, Wyoming. He attended grade school and high school there, graduating in May of 1941.

In 1941 he moved to San Diego, California to work for Consolidated Aircraft Company. After a few years he returned to Greybull where he met and married Grace Light and to this union were two children, LaVere Ernest Hamilton and Nancy Rose Hamilton.

Following their divorce in 1956, he returned to California and worked at Douglas Aircraft Company. He met Ellen Faulkner and they were married in 1957. They then returned to Greybull where he was employed by the City and was a volunteer for the Fire Department.

Because of the long cold winters, they returned to California where he was employed by Hughes Aircraft as a Security Officer. He remained there for nineteen years, retiring in 1985 and moving to LaVerkin, Utah.

After moving to LaVerkin, Ken and Ellen joined the LDS Church and were later sealed in the St. George Temple. Ellen did Genealogy research and they did a lot of temple work for their family and ancestors. They enjoyed their callings in the Church and Ken was pleased to become a high priest. He also served on the Senior Citizens Advisory Board in Hurricane, Council of Aging in St George, and was a life time member of the Greybull, Wyoming Elks Lodge.

He is survived by four Children, Nancy Hamilton of Florida, Deedra (Boyd) McGaha, Patricia (Mike) Gehring, and Sharon Young all of California. Two Sisters, Verla (Carl) Kershner of Wyoming, Verna Lou (Don) Brown of Colorado, also 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, three brothers, and a granddaughter.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00PM Monday, March 17, 2014 at the LaVerkin Cemetery. Friends may call at the LaVerkin Stake Center from 11:30AM until 12:45PM. Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home.
