Helen Canfield Cannon, 85, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on April 20, 2014. She was born February 21, 1929, in St. George, Utah, to Oliver and Ellen Canfield. She attended Woodward Jr. High and Dixie High School in St. George. On August 4, 1950, she married Ivan Cannon, and two years later, they moved to Las Vegas.
In 1958, Ivan became the owner of Charleston Auto Parts, and Helen joined him as bookkeeper and office manager, building the business from one store to 15 stores and a distribution center. Helen was also an excellent seamstress and gardener, but her real love was directed toward her husband and family, to whom she was devoted. She was especially happy to spend time with her grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wilford; sister, Lois; and a grandson. She is survived by her husband, Ivan; five children, Ron Cannon (Connie), Oliver Cannon, Laura Cannon, Bayard Cannon (Barbie), Jacqueline Cannon Smith (Mike); 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. (NV time) in the Hacienda Ward Chapel, 2275 E. Tropicana, Las Vegas, NV. There will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services, both viewings held in the chapel. Interment will take place Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. (UT time) in the Central Cemetery, Central, UT.
