Carol Howell Obituary
Carol Lynne Howell

St. George

Carol Lynne Howell, 63, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014 in St. George, UT surrounded by her family. She was born in Whittier, CA on August 3, 1950 to Gerald C Craig and Marcene (Martin) Craig.

After her family moved to the Sacramento, CA area, Carol attended schools in the Sacramento, CA area and graduated from Mira Loma High School in 1968.

Moving back to Southern California after graduation, Carol met her sweetheart, Lynn Douglas Howell. They were married in the Los Angeles, CA LDS Temple on December 20, 1969 and have been happily married for the past 44 years.

Following and supporting her husband's career in the pet food and veterinary industries, they bought their first home together in Whittier, CA, followed by homes in Walnut, CA, Germansville, PA, and Vancouver, WA before moving to their retirement home in St. George, UT in July 2010.

Carol (and Lynn) were blessed with two sons, Jared Craig Howell and Jeremy Douglas Howell. Her family was a blessing in her life, and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with them. Her five year-old grandson, Chase (son of Jeremy & Kate), added huge delight to a new role as Grandmother.

Along with her family and friends, Carol's passion was raising and showing championship Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. In addition to winning numerous awards over 30 years of breeding and showing Ridgebacks, she was heavily involved in the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS), and served as Chair of the 1996 RRCUS National Specialty Show in Allentown, PA.

Carol is remembered as an accomplished homemaker. She took pride in her home where family and visiting friends were sure to be welcomed with a home cooked meal and loving hospitality.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald C. Craig and Marcene (Martin) Craig of Whittier, CA; her older brother, Larry C. Craig; and the numerous Ridgebacks (and cats - Little and Freeway) who she loved over the years.

Carol is survived by her husband, Lynn D. Howell (St George, UT); sons: Jared Craig Howell (Jennifer Schmoyer) of Fontana, CA, Jeremy Douglas (Kate) Howell and grandson, Chase Howell of Vancouver, WA; her sister-in-law, Villa Lamont Craig of Galt, CA; and her devoted Ridgeback, Janu.
