Bert C. Staheli, 85, passed away June 5, 2014 in St. George, Utah at Dixie Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born March 25, 1929 to Clarence and Beulah Price Staheli in the home of his grandparents, Bert and Bell Price in Enterprise, Utah, Bert was the fifth of eleven children. He met the love of his life, Roma Bowler at a dance at the Veyo Pool. They were married March 1, 1947 in Gunlock, Utah and sealed in the St. George LDS Temple February 3, 1948.
Bert loved music, he taught himself to play the guitar. He played and sang in over 200 funerals and many, many other occasions. He loved Coco his little dog, his horses, his children and grandchildren, but most of all he loved Roma. They have been married 67 years.
Bert was raised in Enterprise, Utah and attended Enterprise High School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held positions in many organizations in the church. Bert and Roma served an 18 month mission at the Bishop's storehouse. Bert's work moved them around a lot and they settled in St. George in 1967.
Bert is survived by his wife, Roma, of St. George; Roma's sister, Wilma Leavitt of St. George; children: Andrea (Mike) Miller of St. George, Debra (Rick) Bracken of Bigelow Ranch, Tamara (Randy) Holyoak of St. George, Neica (Bryce) Christensen of Bloomington; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: Stan Staheli and John Staheli; and sisters; Colleen Stock, Anna Lippold, Barbara Nielsen and Mary Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Bert Staheli; granddaughter, Chauntelle Christensen; grandson, Brad Ovard; brothers, Ken Staheli and Jim Staheli; and sisters, Ferol Sorenson and Evelyn Grey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George LDS East Stake Center, 449 South 300 East, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Stake Center.
