Hope Dalton Robertson Obituary
Hope Evans Dalton Robertson

Hatch, Utah

Hope Evans Dalton Robertson, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2014 in St. George, Utah with her family by her side. She was born on February 18, 1924 in Hatch, Utah to David Hyrum "Hy" and Mayall Henry Evans, the baby of their 12 children. Her mother named her Hope because she hoped she was the last one! She married Grant Dalton on September 1, 1939 in Hatch, Utah, and was later sealed to him in the St. George LDS Temple. Grant preceded her in death on October 13, 1987. She later married Gerald Robertson. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2013.

Hope met Grant when he was in the CCC camp in Bryce Canyon, Utah. He was the love of her life, and she married him at the age of 15. They were married in a double wedding with her sister Gai, whom she was always close to her whole life.

Hope was an active member of the LDS Church, and her family was her greatest treasure. She always had an open door to anyone and everyone, and said her house wasn't just a house, it was a home. She loved to talk and visit with people regardless of who they were or where they were from, and never met a stranger. She was very outgoing and friendly.

Hope enjoyed giving to others. She would find out what family and friends liked, then go to swap meets and stores and if she saw something for them she would buy it. She loved Christmas time, with the many family visiting and being able to give the treasures she had found to friends and others. She enjoyed taking extended family into her home to stay during the summer months, and her home was always full at deer-hunting time.

Hope spent her life serving her family and others. She taught her children to be open and honest, to be friendly with others, and to love life. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children Fawn (Pete) Childers of Apache Junction, Utah, Shan (Gilbert) Clark of Kanab, Utah, G. Bruce (Bonnie) Dalton of Panguitch, Utah, Dennis Jay (Barbara) Dalton of Hatch, and Pam (Wayne) Stubbs of Parowan, Utah; sister Gai (Ed) Moore of St. George, Utah; and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Hatch Utah LDS Church, with viewing from 11:00-12:30 PM. Burial will be in the Hatch Cemetery. Services were arranged with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.

The family wish to thank the many caregivers who took care of mom in her last years, including the Meadows Assisted Living center in St. George; Tracy and Vance at Applegate Home Health; Pauline, Derek and staff at Dixie Hospice Care; and especially Dr. Tyler Haberle, who went far beyond his paid duties to show love and care to our mother in her passing. Thank you all so much for everything!
