Elaine Hirschi Averett, age 82, died November 16, 2012 in St George, Ut. Elaine was the 5th of 7 children born to Kenneth and Olive Squire Hirschi March 27, 1930 in St George. She was raised in and attended schools in St George. After graduating from high school she met and married her knight in shining armor Keith Averett, on October 4, 1948 they were married in the St George Temple. Soon after marriage they moved to Cedar City and spent the next 45 yrs raising their family of 6 children and building successful businesses.

Elaine served in many church callings including Relief Society and Young Women's Presidencies. She was a loyal and lifelong visiting teacher. She was a masterful seamstress, enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She loved making her home beautiful and inviting with her decorating skills and with the aroma of tasty home cooking. Keith and Elaine loved square dancing and were members of the Hey Cedars square dance club. They were involved in the JC's and traveled to many conventions throughout the years. They enjoyed attending and hosting church study groups. Many lifelong friends were made doing these things.
Keith and Elaine loved to travel. They have been to China, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Jamaica, St Thomas, Venezuela, Africa, the Canary Islands, Italy, Spain, Canada, and many others. They have seen most of the United States.
Elaine loved attending all the activities that her children and grandchildren were involved in and rarely missed any; she was the best cheerleader there. She was an avid bowler and took home many trophies. She scored hundreds of baseball games for the teams her sons were on. She enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz.
Elaine is survived by her husband Keith; 5 children, Penny (Roger) Stratton, Orem, UT, Alan (Kathy) Averett, St. George, UT, Annette (John) Murray, Cedar City, UT, Kevin Averett, Washington , UT, Ashley (Michelle) Averett, LaVerkin, UT; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grand children; her sister Jean (Mike) Engstrom, her brother Wesley (Allie) Hirschi, her sister-in-law LaVerne Hirschi; son-in-law Rick (Wendy) Excell.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; daughter Charmaine Excell and grandson Travis Ricky Excell; brothers, Wayne, Verl, Leland, and JD 'John'
Funeral services will be Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 82 N. Main St., Washington, UT. Viewings will be held in the Chapel on Sunday, November 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, November 19th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will take place at the Washington City Cemetery.
