Lloyd Grant Jones, 85, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, March 22, 2013 in Hurricane, Utah. Grant was born in St. George on August 21, 1927; the second child of Clarence and Madaline Jones. After his tour of duty with the Army Air Force in Okinawa during World War II, he married the love of his life, Rose Jeffery, August 4, 1949 in the St. George LDS Temple.
Grant was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He especially loved serving with the scouts.
Grant had many varied interest including farming, 4-H, working/playing hard outside and spending time with his family, particularly with his grandkids. He was a respectful man of his word. He was friendly, independent, honest, hard-working and took pride in his work. He had an unconditional love towards others and was willing to share what he had. Grant worked for PacifiCorp.
Grant is survived by his sweetheart, Rose; his six children: Karen (Clynton) Ence, Sandra (Dennis) Stout, Kathy (Lynn) Excell, Melanie (Oscar) Hulet, Aaron "A.J" Jones and Marlow (Tami) Jones; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; his sister, Sylvia (Quinn) Chamberlain; and his brother, Wayne (Elma) Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Madaline and his older brother, Acil Jones.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m at the Hurricane LDS 9th Ward Chapel located at 274 South 100 West. Friends and family may call or visit Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary located at 140 North Main Street and on Thursday, prior to the services, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel.
