LeRoy W. Christensen


LeRoy W. Christensen, age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at his home in Washington with family at his side. He was born on December 20, 1925 in Murray, Utah. He was raised by his maternal grandparents until he was 8 years old and then he was adopted by Wilford and Mary Christensen of Salem, Utah. He attended Salem Elementary School, Spanish Fork Jr. High, then Spanish Fork High School until he enlisted into the Army Air Corps at age 17 in 1943, during the height of World War II. He attained the rank of Corporal with the 314th Bombardment Wing based in Guam, South Pacific. In 1946 he married Madge Gardner of Spanish Fork and together they had four children: Mary Lee Mohler, Steven, Jilene Tuttle, and Daniel. They divorced in 1963. LeRoy later married Juanita Isom who had two sons, Sam and Bruce Earle..

LeRoy worked as a lineman for Mountain Bell and worked his way up through the company until he retired as an equipment engineer in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force in both World War II and then re-enlisted during the Korean War. A unique soul, LeRoy was very funny and enjoyed playing practical jokes on his friends. He enjoyed fishing throughout his life. He was also an excellent electrician. He had a very sharp, analytical, and inquisitive mind; even into his advanced years. Although recently his health was failing, his attitude remained positive and his outlook cheerful. He looked forward to visiting with anyone. Throughout his life he was eager to help everyone however he could. He was very family oriented and always had an open door policy to all of his family. He will be greatly missed.

LeRoy is survived by his children, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the at Washington LDS 11th Ward Chapel, 700 East Telegraph Road, Washington, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be held at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
