St George

Sarah Lynn Bacon age 38 passed away January, 16 2014.

Sarah was diagnosed with a brain tumor December, 12 2013. Her valiant battle ended at her parents' home in St George with her family by her side. Trying to summarize her life in a few paragraphs is very difficult.

Sarah was born in Delta, UT February, 21 1975. She graduated from Delta High School and continued her education at the University of Utah. Sarah earned a BS in Behavioral Science with emphasis on family and consumer studies, specializing in childhood development and attachment. Sarah later earned a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work, also from the U of U. After graduation she worked five years in family practice with her mother in Kanab, UT. The last 2 and a half years Sarah worked for Intermountain Health Care, Oncology Department in St George, UT., as the Oncology Social Worker, Sarah devoted her time providing care, support and guidance to patients, their families and staff.

Sarah spent her life thinking of others even as the tumor was taking her life her greatest concern was for her family.

Sarah is survived by her parents, Jim and Jaime Bacon, St George. Brothers, Josh Bacon, St George, Vale (Deidra) Bacon, St George. Sisters, Becky (Shawn) Harris, Delta and Bethany (Klint) Atkinson, Hinckley. Nieces and Nephews, Devin (Jason and their son Jax) Prisbrey St George, Bo and Rye Bacon, St George. Britney (Shad) Oppenheimer, Taggart and Zach Harris, Delta. Karson, Kade, Aaron and Megan Atkinson, Hinckley. Sarah is also survived by our very special Kaibab Paiute Native American families. Sarah had a very close, special, long standing relationship with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT., she will be greatly missed by them. She leaves behind dear friends, co-workers and many special cancer patients and their families. Sarah will be greatly missed by all!

A memorial service in honor of her passing will be held January 25, 2014 at 5:30 pm at The Falls Event Center, 170 South Mall Drive, St. George.

The Dixie Home-Rehab and Hospice Center of St George, not only provided Sarah with compassionate, loving care; they treated her family as their own.
