Olive Hurst Obituary

Olive Peacock Hurst

1915~2014

Olive Peacock Hurst born in Fairview, Utah on November 27, 1915 to Charles Moffett Peacock and Wealtha Ovanda Witbeck Peacock, died on December 3, 2014 of causes incident to age. She was preceded in death by her husband Phil (Philip Otis) Hurst (who passed away on December 6, 1986) and by her father, mother, sister Wealtha Peacock Johnson Lund, and brother Charles Richard Peacock. She resided in Fairview, Manti, Provo, Salt Lake City, and St. George, Utah.

She married Phil at Coalville, Utah, September 10, 1933. They were later sealed for time and eternity on April 25, 1981 in the Manti LDS Temple.

In January 1934, Olive and Phil returned to Fairview, Utah and opened the Travel Inn Café with Jack (John Frank) and Hortense H. Stewart. This partnership continued for twenty-five years until Jack and Hortense retired and the Café was sold. At this time, Phil was employed by the U.S. Forest Service and Olive went to work as a checker for Safeway at Mt. Pleasant, Utah where she worked for ten years. She then went to work at First Security Bank at Mt. Pleasant as a teller and worked until retirement.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held positions in Mutual, Relief Society, and the library.

Olive always said she had a good life, surrounded by caring family and friends including many loving nieces and nephews, who always made her feel welcome into their lives, especially her brother's daughter Judith (Judy) Sharon Sevcik, who cared for her like a loving daughter.

In return, her warm loving heart and cherry optimistic nature blessed everyone who knew her. She made many friends wherever she went and was deeply loved.

The family expresses appreciation to the staff and her many friends at The Meadows Assisted Living Center, The Coral Desert Rehabilitation Center, and The Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, all of St. George, Utah.

Funeral services to be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 in Fairview, Utah at 11:00am at the Fairview 1st Ward LDS Chapel located at 100 S. State, Fairview, Utah. A viewing will be one hour prior to services. Interment at the Fairview Cemetery.

I will always hold dear the talks around the kitchen table with my grandma and Aunt Olive. Stories about their childhoods and watching them laugh themselves to tears. A wonderful woman, leaving a wonderful legacy. I love you Aunt Olive, enjoy the reunion!

I was so sorry to hear of Olive's passing. She was such an amazing woman, and so inspiring to me. The way that she lived her life, so independent, so full of life, and I loved her sense of humor it was contagious and lifted my spirits on so many occasions. Olive will dearly be missed by the many people who's lives she has touched. My condolences go out to Judy & Ted
