Larry Naegle Obituary

Larry Jess Naegle

Cedar City, Utah

Larry Jess Naegle unexpectedly passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2015 in Cedar City UT, where he lived his entire life. He was born November 12, 1948 to Jesse and Eden Naegle.

Larry played football in high school and was an Eagle Scout. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning from the war, he used his hard earned money to buy his 1969 Mach 1 Ford Mustang, which he loved maintaining and restoring throughout his life.

He married Virginia Mae Christensen in the St. George LDS Temple. They were married 42 wonderful years and had four children. Larry worked as a carpenter and custom log home builder for thirty years. His craftsmanship is still seen on Cedar Mountain today. In his later years, he worked as a supply truck driver for Southwest Plumbing Supply for 16 years.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The most important things in his life were his faith and family. He was an amazing father and grandfather. In his spare time, you would find him with his family, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, shooting bows at the archery range, or visiting car shows. The highlight of every year was the archery hunt with his son and daughter.

He was known for his storytelling, his smile, sincerity, and a willingness to help.

Preceded in death by his son Larry Brent; his sister Roberta Petty; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Naegle; his children Christine (Kody) Prisbrey, Lisa (Jeremy) Michaelis, MaryAnn Naegle, and Daughter-in-Law Richelle Naegle; his grandchildren Kyler, Lacey, Rachel, Shawn, Kenny, and Nathan; and his sister Betty Bess.

Virginia, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Larry! Unexpected deaths have to be the hardest thing ever!! I offer my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember him helping finish a basement bedroom and was so glad to be in the same ward with you both for so many years. You were great friends and I miss all my 19th Ward friends! Take care and my thoughts and prayers are with you!

Lots of memories from growing up on 800 and 900 west. Most of the houses are gone. Streets have disappeared. Now one of the sons of the neighborhood has gone. Quite a guy. Our best to you and your family Virginia. Garth and Danna Jones

Dear Virginia and family,
We were so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I so enjoyed working with him at SouthWest Plumbing. We so appreciated him each delivery day. No matter how much he had to do after our delivery, we were all that mattered at the time.
There was nothing he wouldn't do for us, even waiting for us in Salina to pick up a part for our customer who had to have it before Larry's regular delivery time to Ephraim.
It's easy to love people like Larry. He's certainly someone your family should always be proud of.
Time has past since we both retired - but I will always consider him a friend and will always be grateful that I had the opportunity to know him.
Our prayers and thoughts will be with you always.

Larry was one of my first friends. Jesse and Eden lived in one of our rental houses on 800 West (Fire Station is there now). Larry had a red bike, and I had a blue one--so he was the Fireman and I was the Police. Larry's dad worked at the mine and brought home a UKE inner-tube and pumped it up. We bounced and bounced on it. My dad carved us wooden guns to shoot elastic bands. We rode broom stick horses, built huts, hiked to the Burnt Tree, and had a wonderful childhood!
I will never forget you, Larry! Thank you for being my friend!

How grateful I am to have had the influence of this incredible man, my brother in law, in my life. Always hard working and striving to keep his environment a cheerful and happy place. Always knew how to lighten a mood, or tell an antidote that was well received, taught important ideas, and was just a wonderful uncle to my children, and loving and caring to my sister and to their children. We love you, Larry and look forward to seeing you on the other side of the veil.
