Baker, Nellie (Death Notice) - Harrodsburg  
Nellie Baker, 92, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at her residence after a long illness. She was born July 24, 1922, in Mackville. She was a care giver, member of the Widow to Widow Group, Mercer County Senior Citizens and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters: Martha (Buddy) Steele, Harrodsburg, Jo Nell (Calvin) Devers, Corinth, and Lela Robin Cooper, Salvisa and one son Darrel (Lorraine) Baker, Mackville. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Sims Funeral Services by Kelly Baker and Keith Greer. Burial was in the Battle Cemetery. Pallbearers were Timothy Baker, Robert Baker, Clint Steele, Hunter Hatchett, Jody Hatchett and Austin Cooper. Honorary Bearers are Phyllis Claxton, Laura Renee Carney, Andrea Christopher, Julie Sweets, and Jamie Wilmoth. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kosair Children's Hospital, 231 East Chestnut Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40202. Chesser, Frances Mae (Death Notice) - Bardstown  
Frances Mae Chesser, 73, of Bardstown, passed away at 8:25 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville. She was a member of the Bloomfield Church Of God and a homemaker. Survivors include, two daughters, Connie Burkhead of Willisburg and Leasa Litsey of Springfield; six sons, James Frankie Chesser of Eminence, Kenny Burkhead (Sue) of Harrodsburg, Ricky Burkhead of Birmingham, Ala., Donald Burkhead (Dana) of Chaplin, David Burkhead of Bloomfield and Spencer Burkhead of Louisville. Funeral services were held at 1p.m., Friday, Dec. 19 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Cheatham, pastor of the Anchor Of Hope Church, officiating. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Bloomfield. Serving as pallbearers were Justin Chesser, G.R. Lewis, Chris Lewis, Ross Eppstin, Wayne Burkhead, Austin Burkhead, William Chesser and Patrick Lewis.

Grider, Roxie - Springfield  
Roxie Raybourne Grider, 99, of Springfield, passed away at 11:22 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at the Village of Lebanon Nursing Home in Lebanon. A native of Washington County, she was born on April 11, 1915, to the late Walter Wycoff "Jack" and Martha B. Shewmaker Raybourne. She was a member of the Springfield Christian Church and for many years attended the Springfield Baptist Church with her family. A 1933 graduate of Mackville High School, she attended St. Catharine College and the University of Kentucky. She was a bank teller for the former First National Bank and a longtime employee of the former First & Peoples Bank, a former member of the Springfield Woman's Club, the Washington County Homemakers Club and the Springfield B.P.W. Club. Preceding her in death was her husband, James O. Grider on Aug. 6, 1997, a son, James Walter Grider, on March 20, 2011, two brothers, Joseph Oliver Raybourne on May 4, 1914, and Jack Raybourne, Jr. on March 27, 1995, and three sisters, Juanita Bailey on Aug. 21, 1955, Dorothy Thompson on Jan. 23,1999 and Blanche Milburn on Jan. 26,2006. Survivors include, two daughters, Martha Dell Shewmaker and Mary Margaret Matherly and her husband, Keith all of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Mary Tom Grider of Louisville; five grandchildren, Mark Shewmaker, Allen Shewmaker, Chris Shewmaker, Roxanne Grider and Jamie Paradis and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 15 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Compton, pastor of the Springfield Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Mark Shewmaker, Allen Shewmaker, Chris Shewmaker, Keith Matherly, Al Paradis and Bobby Brady. Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Medley, Anna Louise - Springfield  
Anna Louise Medley, 89, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx. She was born July 3, 1925, in Washington County.  She was a farmer's wife and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Manton. She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Edelen; her mother, Lucille Montgomery Edelen Osborne; her step-father, Frank Osborne; a grandson, Michael Hamilton. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, John S. Medley; three daughters, Charlotte Mudd (Paul) of Louisville, Ruth Hamilton (Fred) of Bardstown and Mary Mattingly (Steve) of Loretto; one son, Johnny Medley (Marian) of Springfield; 11 grandchildren, Bob Mudd, Bradley Hamilton, Chris Mudd, Beth Coats, Sonya Ash, Amanda Mattingly, Stephanie Johnson, Allyson Hamilton-McIntire, Brittany Alvey, Matthew Medley, Candice Mattingly; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, T. F. Edelen of Louisville, George Edelen (Anna Louise) and Paul "Dutch" Edelen all of Loretto. Her Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Manton, with burial in Saint Rose Cemetery in Springfield.  Rev. Matt Hardesty will officiate. Pallbearers were Fred Hamilton, Paul Mudd, Steve Mattingly, Brad Hamilton, Bob Mudd, Matt Medley and Chris Mudd.  Honorary Pallbearers are the granddaughters.

Murray, Rev. James Stephen - Springfield  
Rev. James Stephen Murray, O.P., 93, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio.  Born Dec. 4, 1921, in Lowell, Mass., Fr. Murray was in his 65th year as a Dominican Priest.  He was ordained on June 10, 1950, and had served as pastor of St. Rose Catholic Church from 1986 until 1990 and had been an associate at St. Rose for the last 14 years.   A sister, Mary McOsker of Lowell, Mass, survives him. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at St. Rose Catholic Church with Very Rev. Kenneth R. Letoile, O.P., officiating. Burial was in St. Rose Priory Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Goatley, Joe B. Smith, Jerry Smith, David Spalding, Dale Reinscheld, Billy Abell, Mike Halloran and Ben Barber. Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Taylor, Mary Frances - Nerinx  
Mary Frances Carrico Taylor, 95, formerly of Fredericktown, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx, where she had been a resident since 2009. Born March 2, 1919, in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Susan Warren Carrico; her husband, William Edwin Taylor, Sept. 29, 2000; a daughter, Frances Elaine Taylor, March 3, 1953; three sons, Dickie Taylor, Feb. 24, 2001; Larry Taylor, July 22, 2006 and Louis Taylor, March 28, 2007; seven brothers, Rueben, Cliff, Willie, Marion, Elmer, Warren and Earl Carrico and a sister, Elsie Carrico. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons, Johnie (Cathy) Taylor of Springfield and Jerry (Margaret) Taylor of Fredericktown; three daughters, Sarah Ann (Jimmy) Medley, Imelda (David) Coulter and Libby (Ricky) Coulter all of Fredericktown, three daughters-in-law, Lois Taylor and Rita Kay Taylor both of Springfield and Mary Jane Taylor of Fredericktown, 27 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral mass was conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.16, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown with Rev. Matthew Hardesty, Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. and Rev. Culpepper Elliottt officiating.  Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy, Mike, Joey, Pat and Stevie Taylor, Chris Medley and Brian and Eric Coulter. Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Tisha Faye Tungate, 44, of Springfield, passed away at 3:05 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. She was born on July 27, 1970, in Lebanon. She was a member of the Rockbridge Baptist Church. Survivors include, two sons, Joe Grigsby, Jr. and Waylon Grigsby both of Springfield; three daughters, Heather Carney of Springfield, Kristy Miles (Brian) and Shandi Carney both of Willisburg; three grandchildren, Emberleigh Grigsby, Zachary Miles and Gage Carney; and expectant grandchild, Colton Nally; her parents, Millard and Doris Mattingly Tungate of Lebanon; a brother, Millard Tungate, Jr. (Melissa) of Hodgenville; her maternal grandmother, Edith Mattingly of Springfield and a niece, Kayla Tungate. Funeral services were held at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Terry McIlvoy, pastor of the Rockbridge Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation followed the services. Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Walker, Norma (Tatum) - Springfield  
Norma Tatum Walker, 90, of Springfield, passed away at 11:33 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. A native of Washington County, she was born on Feb. 5, 1924, to the late Vivian Carsdale and Lottie Mattingly Tatum. She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, a 1941 graduate of Springfield High School, attended Bryant Stratton Business College in Louisville, a homemaker and a clerical worker for Kosair Charities having retired in 1989. Preceding her in death was her husband, James Albert Walker on July 14, 2004; a brother, Thomas C. Tatum on Sept. 22, 2001, and two sisters, Daphne Shewmaker on June 30, 2010, and Juanita Taylor on Nov. 28, 2013. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Russell and her husband, Billy; a son, Jimmie Dewayne Walker and his wife Patsy all of Springfield; six grandchildren, Jamie Russell, Lori Riney and her husband, Kevin, Sherry Walker, Stephen Walker, Holly Sloan and her husband, David and Timmy Walker and his wife, Sherri; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Story and her husband, Casey, Connor Riney, Peyton Russell, Tatum Sloan, Tyler Walker, Julia Walker, Kandice Walker and Linsey Walker. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Compton, pastor of the Springfield Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the granddaughters and the great-granddaughters. Serving as pallbearers were Stephen Walker, Timmy Walker, Tyler Walker, Jamie Russell, Kevin Riney, Connor Riney and David Sloan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Springfield Baptist Church Building Fund. Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
