Ann Carney Walker, 81, of West Virginia Avenue, Springfield, passed away at 1:05 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, at her home after an illness.
A native of Washington County, she was born on February 4, 1933, to the late Walter and Effie Mae Cheser Carney.
She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Frances Carney on April 16, 1996.
On July 11, 1950, in Springfield, she was united in marriage to Robert Mitchell "Bob" Walker, whom she is survived by.
Also surviving are two sons, Eric Walker and his wife, Maura of Springfield and John F. Walker of Lexington; a daughter, Lisa Walker of Springfield, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Josh Walker and his wife Jacqueline and Erica Walker and two great grandchildren, Ethan and Colin Walker all of Springfield.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Compton, pastor of the Springfield Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Terry McIlvoy, pastor of the Rockbridge Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were fellow workers of the Awana Program of Springfield Baptist Church which Ann was associated with.
Casket bearers were Melvin Settles, John Cobb, Glenn Devine, Bobby Hodgen, Billy Russell and Mel Grissom.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
