Charles Edward Devine, age 71, of Mayes Creek Road, Springfield, passed away at 1 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
A native of Washington County, he was born on Nov. 20, 1941 to the late Julius and Sarah Frances Montgomery Devine. He was a member of the Thompsonville Baptist Church, a former employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in Louisville, a retired employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department where he was assistant foreman and served in the Kentucky National Guard for six years.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Sammy B. Devine on Feb. 4, 2004.Survivors include his wife, Joyce Smith Devine; his son, Kevin Devine of Bardstown and two grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Brown and Sabrina Nicole Devine, both of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday (today), July 17 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Chesser, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Randy Settles, Charles Smith, Darrell Wayne Grigsby, Keith Matherly, Martin Mudd, Michael Smith and Noah Smith. Casket bearers will be Ricky Devine, Brian Devine, Tige Akins, Donnie O?Bryan, Ronnie Montgomery and Johnny Montgomery. Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
