Darrell Grigsby, age 73, of Mayes Creek Road, Springfield, passed away at 2 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at his home after an illness.
A native of Washington County, he was born on Dec. 24, 1939 to the late Hubert and Christine Bunch Grigsby. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Louisville and a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge # 298 F.& A.M. at Mackville. He was a farmer and a retired employee of the General Electric Company in Louisville. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Wilma Deering, Pauline Wilcher and Peggy Grigsby; and four brothers, Hubert Jr., Marshall, Jerry and Johnny Grigsby.
Survivors include his wife, Lois McIlvoy Grigsby; two sons, Darrell Wayne Grigsby and Steven Anthony Grigsby, both of Springfield; a granddaughter, Stephanie Paige Grigsby; two sisters, Marilyn Colmore of New Albany, Ind. and Mildred Deering of Lexington; and four brothers, Lynn Grigsby (Linda) and Lonnie Grigsby (Vickie) of Mt. Washington, Larry Grigsby of New Albany, Indiana and Danny Grigsby of Bardstown.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 11 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Chesser, officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Dylan Davidson, Corey Wilcher, Greg Boblitt, Leo Boblitt and Bobby Waldridge. Casket bearers were Josh Grigsby, J.J. Wilcher, Jeff Grigsby, Chuck Ratliff, Christian Ratliff and Mike Davidson.
A masonic service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home with Billy Riggs delivering the eulogy.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
