Dorothy Dot Christerson Davis, age 80, of Mayes Avenue, Springfield, passed away at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at her home.
A native of Washington County, she was born on Feb. 28, 1932 to the late Leo and Katherine Goode Christerson.
She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was an Awana worker for many years, a homemaker and a 1949 graduate of Mackville High School.
Preceding her in death were a grandson, Clark D. Elliott on June 20, 1993 and a sister, Wilma Young on June 18, 2000.
On July 8, 1948 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Davis, whom she is survived by. Also surviving are five daughters, Kathy Elliott and her husband, Doug of Springfield, Linda Leugers and her husband, Don of Lexington, Gayle Worthington of Springfield, Jill Settles and her husband, John of Springfield and Dee Hilton and her husband, John of Willisburg; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19 at the Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Compton, the church pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jimmie and Judy Clark, Mike and Mary Ann Jones, Dr. Brian and Kathy Wells, Tim and Kathy Sidebottom, Kirby and Jane Ellen Reams, Charles and Alice Clark, Pam Murphy and Elaine Mattingly.
Casket bearers were Jon Bodine, Casey Hutchens, Jared Settles, Kyle Johnson, Adam Worthington, Jeff Worthington, Ashley Davis and Jim Davis.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
