James Carl Stine Jr., age 68, of Simms Lane, Springfield, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
He was born in Lebanon, Ky. on June 30, 1945 to J.C. Sr. and Mable Irene Bowen Stine. He was a member of the Freedom Praise Ministries Church, a retired employee of the General Electric Company of Louisville and an army
veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Bowen Stine.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Settles Stine; a son, James Allen Stine; a daughter, Misty Gayle Stine Stewart; a granddaughter Leah Mary Gayle Stewart all of Springfield; his father and step-mother, J.C. and Pearl Stine of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Carlene Jenkins of Nicholasville, Sandra Wilson, Mildred Moore (Kenneth) and Starlette Drury (Jeffrey) all of Willisburg; and two brothers, Carroll Stine (Janet) of Mt. Washington and Gerry Stine (Bonnie) of Mt. Zion.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Gilbert, pastor of the Freedom Praise Ministries Church officiating.
Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Murriel Settles and Larry Settles. Casket bearers were Everett Settles, Elbert Settles, Joe Settles, Steve Settles, Jim Settles and Doug Gabhart.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
