James Henry Skeans

James Henry Skeans, age 90, of Shepherdsville, formerly of Mackville, passed away at 7:55 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his home.
A native of Wash-ington County, he was born on Jan. 18, 1924 to the late Henry Roy and Mary Lovey Arnold Skeans. He was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, a retired employee of the General Electric Company of Louisville, a retired farmer and an army veteran of World War II.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Lucille Lawson Skeans on Sept. 17, 2008 and his sister, Arnolia Baker of Jan. 1, 2013.
Survivors include, two sons, Terry Skeans of Murray and Dwight Skeans (Glenda) of Lebanon Junction; two daughters, Dianne Cheatham (Jerry) of Shelbyville and Elaine Mattingly (John) of Shepherdsville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11a.m., Tuesday, April 1 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Mull, pastor of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville, where the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard conducted military rites.
Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Cheatham, James Cheatham, James Baker, Donnie Lawson, Glenn Lawson and Troy Settles.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
