James Isiah Keene age 69, of Scott St., Springfield, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
Born June 23, 1944 in Marion County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Will and Elizabeth Smith Keene. He was a former employee of Nally & Gibson in Springfield and Conway-Heaton in Bardstown and had been a member of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Young Keene, five sons, James (Lori) and Kevin (LaKecia) Keene all of Bardstown, Phillip (Carol) Keene, Todd (LaCrecia) Keene all of Louisville, and Keith (Mary) Keene of Springfield; three daughters, Delena Burton of Lexington, Georgia Jones of Harrodsburg and Porsha Keene of Springfield; a step-daughter, LaQuita (Chris) Jones of Bardstown; a brother, David (Ella) Keene of Bardstown; four sisters, Mary Jo Coleman of Springfield, Selena Keene of Louisville and Margaret (John R.) Mattingly and Marcia (Gene) Cocanougher all of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral mass was conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Brown and Deacon Gus Cooper officiating. Burial was in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jamie, Jordon, Maurice and Terry Keene, Andre Reardon and Stewart Churchill.
