Joe Douglas Ashcraft, age 66, of Sunset Drive, Willisburg, passed away at 10:42 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Clark County on July 24, 1947 to Carl Francis Sr. and Mae Bailey Ashcraft.
He was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church, a 1965 graduate of Clark County High School, a former employee of IBM, former maintenance employee of the Fayette County Detention Center in Lexington, a member of Gideons International and a farmer.
Preceding him in death were a son, Timothy Clay Ashcraft; his father, Carl Francis Ashcraft Sr.; and a brother, Carl Francis Ashcraft Jr.
Survivors include his wife, J. Susan Wilson Ashcraft; five daughters, Angela Renee Montgomery of Lexington, Amy Jo Arvin (Greg) of Irvine, Tanya Tuck Collins of Winchester, Melissa Carol Talley (Shaune) of Willisburg and Pamela Esther Ashcraft of Lexington; two sons, William Douglas Ashcraft of Paris and Christopher Alain Jones of Maud; 19 grandchildren; his mother, Mae Bailey Ashcraft of Willisburg; and a sister, Linda Byram (Barney) of Lexington.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5 at Willisburg Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Hatfield, the church pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers were Chris Jones, Shaune Talley, Jim Hamilton, Alex Ronan, William Collins and Jeremy Jankowski.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
