Lula Mae Dawson, age 84, of Melavin Circle, Springfield, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Born July 9, 1929 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Estill and Edna Logan Dawson; eight sisters, Mary Frances Spalding, Hattie Ann Coleman, Lucinda Dawson, Alberta Hazelwood, Fannie Mae Jones, Pruddy Goatley, Helena Ellery and Lauretta Thompson; three brothers, Tom Goatley, Walter and J.C. Dawson.
She was a former employee of Springfield Redrying Company and Springfield Laundry, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Beverly Dawson, Carol Adams, Wanda (Gene) Livers and Tammy Dawson, all of Springfield; a brother, John Henry Goatley of Bronx, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Windrell Hunn Jr. and Minister Gene Livers officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Paige, Tamara and April Dawson, Erica Byas, Margaret Spalding, Mary Benham, Barbara Porter and Taneisha Adams.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Rodney, Michael, Toby, Myron, Monie and Brandon Dawson.
