Mary Beulah Carrico Smith, age 88, formerly of Rosary Heights in Springfield, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at James B. Haggin Extended Care Facility in Harrodsburg where she had been a resident for the last nine years.
Born June 11, 1924 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Rueben and Mary Alice Montgomery Carrico.ÊShe was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Zellar Smith, March 7, 1987, three sons, Guy Frederick, Jan. 1997, William Douglas, June 20, 2004 and Michael Wayne Smith, Nov. 18, 2012;Êtwo brothers, Rueben and Robert Carrico; and two sisters, Margaret Ann Tingle and Mary Alice Carrico.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
She is survived by five sons, Benny and Bobby Smith, both of Florence, Ruben Smith of Bardstown, Randall Smith of Williamstown and Kenny SmithÊof Springfield; two daughters, Patsy Poff of Harrodsburg and Charlotte Thomas of Loretto; one brother, Paul Carrico of Louisville; and one sister, Catherine McIlvoy of Burgin; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Springfield with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating.ÊBurial was in Lebanon National Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank and John Mattingly, Del, Steve and Scott Smith and Matt and Chris Thomas.
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
