Abell A. Parrott age 87, of Mackville Rd., Springfield, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center where he had been a resident for the last month.

Born Sept. 28, 1926 in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Frank and Catherine Bernice Abell Parrott; a son, Jerry Lynn Parrott, Nov. 25, 1995; a brother, John E. Parrott; and two sisters, Sara Young and Mary L. Nally. He was a lifelong farmer, worked as a warehouseman for Bishop Brothers and Big Burley Tobacco Warehouse for many years, was a longtime member of AA and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Tennill Parrott; four sons, John E. (Linda), Abell Jr. (Pamela) and Dale Parrott all of Springfield and Larry (Charlotte) Parrott of Willisburg: three daughters, Peggy (Eugene) Graves of Springfield, Bernice (Philip) Warren of Bloomfield and Betty Sue (Jimmy) Elliott of Gravel Switch; one brother, Lee (Patty) Parrott of Springfield: and one sister, Nancy O'Bryan of Springfield; 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 7-10 a.m. on Thursday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Kenny and Michael Graves, Scott, Stephen, and Matthew Parrott, Jonathan and Jamie Warren, and Joe Osborne.
