Ancil Chesser, 93, of Brush Grove Road in Willisburg, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at his home after an illness.
A native of Washington County, he was born Sept. 11, 1924, to the late Charlie and Pearlie Lewis Chesser.
He was a member of the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy, a retired farmer and an Army veteran of WW II.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Sarah Trent Chesser on Oct.27, 2013; a grandson, Brian Keith Chesser on Nov. 2, 2014; three sisters, Opha Chesser, Ethel Chesser and Pauline Chesser and seven brothers, Omer, Charles Vernon, Hobert, Delbert, Marvin, Cleo and Rollin Chesser.
Survivors include five sons, Larry Chesser (Tammy), Keith Chesser (Connie) and Rodney Chesser all of Willisburg, Gary Chesser (Paula) of Winter Garden, Florida, and Bradley Chesser (Mindy) of Bloomfield; a daughter, Lisa Woford (David) of Bloomfield; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Loraine Griffin and Dula Monroe both of Chaplin.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18, at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Mike Willingham, a former pastor, officiating. Rev. Keith Creech and Rev. Earl Hazel assisted him.
Burial was in the Brush Grove Cemetery at Willisburg with military rites conducted by Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Shannon Herring, Sara Lacey, Kaylee Sutton, Stephanie Smith and Rebecca Woford.
Casket bearers were Scott Chesser, Jeremy Chesser, Zachary Chesser, Justin Chesser, Tyler Chesser, Cory Chesser, Ryan Woford and Josh Kirsch.
