Billy Rue Yankey, 88, of Mackville, passed away at 9 a.m., Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at Baptist Health in Lexington.
A native of Washington County, he was born Jan. 29, 1930, to the late James D. and Myrtle D. Edwards Yankey.
He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church and a graduate of Mackville High School.
Billy was a retired employee of Jackson Chair of Danville, a farmer and a former employee of the Boyle County Stockyards and the Burley Tobacco Warehouse of Danville.
Preceding him in death was his daughter, Tamara Kay May on Dec.12, 2004; a brother, George Harold Yankey and two sisters, Dorothy Louise Monroe and Mary Frances Moore; four half-sisters, Beatrice Grace Yankey Ballard, Ovie Mae Yankey White, Elizabeth Yankey and Ella Gladys Yankey Shewmaker, and seven half-brothers, John Yankey, Charles Zomer Yankey, William Bryan Yankey, Willie Yankey, Carl Yankey, Woodrow Wilson Yankey and James Debo Yankey Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alsman Yankey; two sons, Mike Yankey (Phyllis) of Mackville and Tommy Yankey (Cheryle) of Lawrenceburg; a step-daughter, Debbie Lynn Pingleton (Larry) of Crab Orchard; a step-son, Robbie Noel Jr. of Munfordville; three grandchildren, Austin Yankey, Tanner Yankey and Laura Branson; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Adasyn Cornelius; three step-grandchildren, Daniel Ray Pingleton, Mirinda Sanders and Billy Clyde Sanders; three step-great-grandchildren, Jackson Ray Pingleton, Alexander Reed Pingleton and Dakota Broyles and one brother, Lowell Thomas Yankey (Betty Lou) of Campbellsville.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Reynolds officiating.
Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Austin Yankey, Tanner Yankey, Jim Smith, Carlton Shewmaker, Gerald Mattingly, Lowell Peavler, Offus Lewis and Billy Mattingly.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
