Catherine Rose Blanford, 87, formerly of Bardstown, died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Sansbury Care Center at St. Catharine where she had been a resident since 2005.
Born March 21, 1930, in Marion County, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Hillman and Mary Effie Mudd Blanford; two brothers, Hayden Blanford and Hillman "Fuzzy" Blanford; a sister, Jane Blanford Clements, and three nephews.
She was a graduate of Brescia College in Owensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree, was a teacher in Archdiocese of Louisville schools for 15 years, taught in the Nelson County School System for 22 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bardstown.
She was a devoted teacher, a very special aunt, a mother figure to Rose Goodlett and a grandmother figure of her daughters.
She is survived by a sister, Leona Haydon of Bardstown, and 22 nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Springfield with Rev. Culpepper Elliott officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bardstown.
Pallbearers will be Jodie, David, Steve, Johnny and Paul Haydon, Jerry, Pat and Robbie Blanford.
Visitation will be from 9 till 11 a.m. Thursday at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield, which is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions are suggested to Sansbury Care Center at St. Catharine.
