Charles Dalmon Pinkston, age 86, of Lebanon Road, Springfield, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at the Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.
A native of Washington County, he was born on May 12, 1926 to the late Urban and Ida Gray Pinkston.
He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, an Army veteran of World War II, a farmer and a former farm implement dealer.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Donald Pinkston on Feb. 13, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Shewmaker Pinkston; two sons, Nicky Pinkston and his wife, Kathleen of Springfield and Dennis Pinkston of Richmond; three granddaughters, Kathy Tucker (Kenneth), Kim Spalding (Jeremy) and Nicole Abell (Jamie); five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Reynolds of Mackville and Ollie Gray Clark of Mt. Washington.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Stevens, pastor of the Springfield Presbyterian Church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Nelson Reynolds.
Burial was in Peter Cemetery at Mackville where military rites were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Spalding, Jamie Abell, Kenneth Tucker, Jimmy Devine, Justin Reynolds and David Clark.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
