Mr. Danny Wayne Settles, 66, of Springfield, passed away at 8:55 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

He was born in Lebanon, Ky. on July 8, 1947 to the late Oliver and Mattie Belle Coulter Settles. He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church, a 1965 graduate of Mackville High School, served in the Springfield National Guard for seven years and was retired with thirty-two years of service as a lineman and technician for Bell South Telephone Company. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Settles.
Survivors include, his wife, Debra Holderman Settles; a son, Brian Settles (Chantel) of Lexington; a daughter, Rachel Gunther (Stephen) of Hertford, N.C.; three grandchildren, Tyler Gunther, Trent Gunther and Zane Gunther; two brothers, Melvin Settles (Inelle) of Springfield and Bobby Settles (Betty) of Bardstown; his mother-in-law, Juanita Holderman of Harrodsburg; a sister-in-law, Dena Worthington (Dennis) of Harrodsburg; two brothers-in-law, Danny Holderman (Sandy) of Perryville and Dwayne Holderman of Bowling Green.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19 at the New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Harmon and Rev. Chuck Robinson, officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.
Serving, as honorary pallbearers were the late Dustin Worthington, fellow Washington County bus drivers and men of the New Harmony Baptist Church.
Casket bearers were Ricky Settles, Randy Settles, Brad Settles, Troy Settles, Chad Holderman, Chris Holderman and Kevin Holderman.
