Edgar Francis "Ed" Mattingly, 90, of N. Doctor Street in Springfield, died at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at his residence.
Born Oct. 12, 1927, in Marion County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Hubert and Mary Rose Fields Mattingly; his wife, Teresa Marie Abell Mattingly, Dec. 19, 2017; a son-in-law, Eddie Carrico, May 4, 1999; five brothers, J.B., Bob, Hubert "Cat", Richard and Joe Mattingly and two sisters, Marie Mattingly Brown and Anna Belle Mattingly.
He was a lifelong farmer in Marion and Washington counties, was a U.S. Army veteran of the World War II era and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He is survived by five sons, Mike (Cheryl) Mattingly, Terry Mattingly, Kevin (Amanda) Mattingly and Todd (Cindy) Mattingly all of Springfield and Greg (Angie) Mattingly of Lebanon; three daughters, Pam (Danny) Marks of Lebanon, Debbie (Mark) Collard of Lexington and Lisa Carrico, wife of the late Eddie Carrico of Springfield; one sister, Mary Rose Ballard of Botland; 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Funeral mass was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. officiating.  Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eric Marks, Bart, Cole, Stuart and Cody Mattingly and Bryan Carrico.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
