Evan Harold Hardin, 87, of Bardstown Road in Springfield, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept.13, 2018, at Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center.
A native of Washington County, he was born Oct. 28, 1930, to the late Lem and Mary Ellen Hardin.
He was a member of Willisburg Baptist Church, an Army veteran and was the former owner and operator of Evan Hardin Trucking Company.
Preceding him in death was his daughter, Marilyn Gale Mattingly, June 11, 1995, and a brother, Earnest Hardin, Jan. 22, 2009.
Survivors include his wife, May Ola Hood Hardin; his son, Harold Hardin and his wife, Lanette of Springfield; four grandchildren, Cody Hardin, Dustin Hardin and his wife Tamatha, Dakota Hardin and James Chesser; three great-grandchildren, Dixie Rose Hardin, Anthony Chesser and Nevaeh Bolin, and a brother, Homer Hardin of Springfield.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. J.W. Hatfield, pastor of the Willisburg Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Cody Hardin, Tamatha Hardin and Anthony Chesser.
Casket bearers were Dustin Hardin, Dakota Hardin, James Chesser, Anthony Thompson, David Thompson and Bruce Thompson.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
