George Hilary Edelen, age 77, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 12 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at the Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.
A native of Washington County, he was born on Jan. 24, 1936 to the late Thomas and Nannie Barber Edelen.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Edelen and William Marvin Edelen, both of Louisville and George Edelen Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Olivia Jones and Venus Edelen, both of Louisville; three stepsons, Timothy Buckler and Gary Buckler, both of Lebanon and Brian Buckler of South Korea; and a stepdaughter, Tamara Thompson (Charlos) of Louisville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Brown and Deacon Gus Cooper, officiating.
Burial was in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were William Edelen, Wayne Edelen, Jeff Whitley, Bernard Whitley, Gary Buckler and Brian Buckler.
Casket bearers were Ronnie Yocum Jr., Gerry Wright, James Reed, George Edelen Jr., Dwight Leach and Darryl Whitley.
