Homer Ray Hardin, 85, of Hardesty Road in Springfield, passed away at 8:37 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at the home of his daughter, Terry Dennis.
A native of Washington County, he was born on May 8, 1933, to the late Lem and Mary Ellen Hardin.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a 1953 graduate of Willisburg High School. Homer was a long time milk hauler for 60 years, an avid fisherman, hunter and farmer. The light of his life was his family; he truly adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Anna Jewell Young Hardin, May 25, 2013; a son, Lanny Keith Hardin, Nov. 15, 1956; a grandson, Christopher Wade Dennis July 8, 2004; two brothers, Evan Hardin, Sept. 13, 2018, and Earnest Hardin, Jan. 22, 2009.
Survivors include two daughters, Terry Dennis and her husband, Kelvin, and Kandy Nally and her husband, Chris, all of Springfield; four grandchildren, Channing Nally and his wife, Rachel, Brock Dennis, Jared Nally and his wife, Nikki, and Kayla Cocanougher and her husband, Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Aurora Chase Nally, Bryson Cocanougher and Brody Cocanougher.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Bishop officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Channing Nally, Brock Dennis, Jared Nally, Kayla Cocanougher, Randy Thompson, Joan Thompson, Harold Hardin, Dakota Hardin, Cody Hardin, Dustin Hardin, Vince Coulter, Rachel Nally, Nikki Nally and Jacob Cocanougher.
