James Carroll Hardin, 79, of Chaplin, passed away at 8:06 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at his home after an illness.
A native of Washington County, he was born on Nov. 3, 1938 to the late Herbert and Annie Helen Wall Hardin.
He was a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer.
Preceding him in death was his daughter, Lee Ann Hardin on Jan. 24, 2018, and a brother, Leon Hardin on Nov 1, 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Prewitt Hardin; his son, Anthony Hardin (Shannon) of Chaplin; two grandsons, Blake and Ben Hardin and two brothers, Paul Hardin (Shirley) of Glasgow and Bernice Hardin (Stella) of Bloomfield.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday June 28, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Thompson, pastor of Chaplin Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the High View Cemetery at Chaplin.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Paul Holt and Eugene Morris.
Casket bearers were Troy Prewitt, Kenny Prewitt, Danny Prewitt, Ronnie Hardin, Steve Tate and Ken Powell.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
