Rev. Julian W. Simpson, 84, of Lexington, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Baptist Health in Lexington.
A native of Washington County, he was born on Aug. 17, 1933, to the late Hedger and Myrtle Lee Chesser Simpson.
He was a preceded in death by a brother, Woodson Simpson on Jan. 13, 2014 and a sister, Rubye Russell on July 14, 2017.
He was a graduate of Springfield High School, a graduate of Asbury College and a graduate of the Presbyterian Seminary in Louisville.
Rev. Simpson was a retired Methodist pastor and was involved with the United Methodist Conference.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Christine Curtsinger Simpson; a son, David Simpson of Lexington; two grandchildren, Dorothy Simpson and Connie Simpson and two great-grandchildren, Bianca Brewer and Desmond Brewer.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, at the chapel of Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg with Rev. John Loper, pastor of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be after noon Thursday in the chapel of the cemetery.
