Luella Young Christerson, 89, of Louisville, formerly of the Mooresville community of Washington County, was called home at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Wesley Manor Health Care Center in Louisville.
A native of Washington County, she was born April 8, 1928, to the late Robert Clark "Bob" and Evie Foster Young.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she served as pianist for more than 40 years. She was a former house parent for Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children, and in later years she provided private in-home patient care service.
Preceding her in death was her sister, Doris O'Bryan on May 13, 2001, and her two brothers, Charles Young on Sept. 14, 2009, and Kenneth Young on April 6, 2017.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Renfrow (Roy) of Louisville; Kim Singleton and Geoffrey McWhorter (John) of Springfield; two sons, Mike Christerson and Brad Christerson (Paula) of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tobe Yankey, the church pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters.
Serving as casket bearers were Chris Renfrow, David Renfrow, Douglas Spalding, Suzanne Spalding, George P. Christerson and Jacob Staten.
