Lula Evelyn "Sis" Yocum Crowdus, 87, of Lexington, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 10:55 p.m., Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, surrounded by family members at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
A native of Washington County, she was born Feb. 14, 1931, to the late Theodore Roosevelt and Mary Lou Brown Yocum.
She was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Lexington and was a former employee of Springfield Redrying Company.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Benny Crowdus; two brothers, James Roosevelt Yocum and Joseph Henry Yocum and four sisters, Virginia Catherine Yocum, Mary Helen Witherspoon, Margaret Frances Jones and Alice Elizabeth Lane.
Nieces, nephews and cousins survive her.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. William Hale, former pastor of the St. Paul AME Church, officiating. Assisting him was Rev. Linda Brown.
Burial was on Cemetery Hill.
Serving as pallbearers were Steven Crowdus, Chris Smith, Rick Smith, Larry Smith, Rickey Smith Jr. and Dewayne Walker.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
