Mary Evelyn Ellery Churchill, age 83, of 554 E. High St., Springfield, died at 6:56 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born March 16, 1929 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Bertrand and Mary Emma Mills Ellery; her husband, John T. Churchill, Sept. 16, 1994; and four brothers, James, Charles and Tom Ellery and Frank Elery.
She was a homemaker, had worked at General Electric Co. in Louisville in Bldg. 5 for six years and had worked at Sansbury Infirmary at St. Catharine for several years. She was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
She is survived by five sons, Tommy Churchill of Lexington, Jimmy, Wayne, Tim and Terry Churchill, all of Springfield; five daughters, Joyce Hamilton and Mary Phillips, both of Louisville, Pat and Betty Jo Churchill, both of Springfield and Brenda Parker of Elizabethtown; one sister, Margaret Trigg of Louisville; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass was conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Brown and Deacon Gus Cooper officiating. Burial was in St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff, Tony, Ty, Timmy and Mike Churchill and Kevin Graves.
