Mary Hazel Sparrow, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 5:15 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at her home after an illness.
A native of Washington County, she was born on Aug. 10, 1940, to the late Dee and Ruby Smith Lewis.
She was a member of the Brush Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Marvin Eugene Sparrow on Dec. 25, 2005; a son, James "Buddy" Sparrow on June 6, 2014; two grandsons, Marvin DeWayne Sparrow and Jason Allen Sparrow; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Sparrow on Jan. 27, 2016; two sisters, Ada Pearl Tate and Hadgie Lee Sparrow and three brothers, Charles D. Lewis, Lonnie Lewis and Theodore Lewis.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Peach (Kenny) of Lawrenceburg; two sons, Hershell Sparrow and Larry Sparrow (Janet) of Springfield; six grandchildren, Robert Hawkins, Melissa Curtsinger, Rebecca Kininmonth, Michael Sparrow, Virginia Loveland and Paula Dones; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ophie Pearl Nalley (John) of Bardstown and a brother, Offus Lewis (Rose) of Mackville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Everett Hood, pastor of Brush Grove Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the High View Cemetery at Chaplin.
Serving as pallbearers were Harold Sparrow, William Sparrow, Eddie Ray Sparrow, Mike Peach, Wayne Benham and Will Dones.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
